The 4 Warnings Signs of Illness Among Dogs

We would like our furry pets to stay with us for as many years as possible. Among the ways to make sure that we stay around longer is by availing treatment for our illnesses as promptly as possible. Of course, dogs it is not constantly that simple for dogs to advise us of their illnesses.

The following is a quick rundown of the signs you have to watch out for if it seems like your dog is not feeling too well.

Strange movement and behavior

Perhaps, you are aware of how your pet dog usually acts by this time. So any change in behavior should not be that difficult to spot – and you should not dismiss any behavior that seems out of the ordinary. Your dogs might not be feeling too well if they are less playful, or clumsier, gets tired easily, or more aggressive. Slow or stiff movement is not a good sign either.

Awful breath

Many people with pet dogs tend to get somewhat alarmed once they observe their dogs breathing more heavily than ordinary (except maybe under the intense heat in the summertime). However, many owners are likely to disregard bad breath. Many are going to argue that the breath of dogs inherently smells bad, right? However, if you notice that your dog’s breath has become worse (or even worse than ordinary), then this may be a sign their oral well-being is not quite what it is supposed to be.

Dwindling or increasing appetite

Dogs are generally quite enthusiastic eaters, making a reduced appetite easily recognizable. A drop in appetite could be a symptom of pain, stress, or fever. This, along with loss, should prompt you to visit your vet at once. They can immediately identify what’s up, or even arrange for a veterinary CT scan. Watch out for increased appetite as well, especially if your dog is now eating those food that they normally would not.

Hair loss

Hair loss may not be that easy to make out, especially because certain dogs seem to be shedding non-stop and gets their fur pretty much anywhere! However, if the dog seem to be losing more hair than they are supposed to, then eventually the signs become clear. Hair loss could be a symptom of many things — parasites or fleas, nutritional deficiency, or thyroid problem. But, it may also be a sign of pregnancy – there are some conditions though that will help you rule out that possibility quite easily.
